They will likely start to send out letters soon anyway, guaranteeing fighting men and women in battle zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan will get letters for sure. But the station would still like to hit 375K and is giving listeners another day or two to get pen and paper out. Host Bert Weiss said he was frustrated they didn't reach the goal but he's hoping people will rally and finish up the final 75,000 by Wednesday.
OfficeTeam Offers Tips for Dealing with Unprofessional Colleagues
MENLO PARK, Calif. -- In many office environments, employees have less than collegial relationships, a new survey shows. Twenty-nine percent of respondents recently surveyed said they work with someone who is rude or unprofessional on the job. Of those, 68 percent felt coworkers frequently behave badly -- and not just to the people who report to them. More than half (59 percent) of all workers surveyed said their boorish colleagues are equal-opportunity offenders, upsetting subordinates, peers and superiors alike. The survey was developed by OfficeTeam, a leading staffing service specializing in the placement of highly skilled administrative professionals. The interviews were conducted by an independent research firm and include responses from 532 full- or part-time workers 18 years of age or older and employed in office environments.
Angelina Jolie's twin pregnancy
Angelina Jolie is pregnant with twins, it has been claimed. The 'Beowulf' actress and her lover Brad Pitt discovered the happy news earlier this week and hastily cancelled their planned trip to Europe. A source told America's Star magazine: "Brad and Angelina are absolutely ecstatic. But I still think there will be more adoptions to come." Angelina, 32, gave birth to the couple's daughter Shiloh in May 2006 in Namibia. The star also has three adopted children with Brad - six-year-old Cambodian son Maddox, four-year-old Vietnamese son Pax and three-year-old Ethiopian daughter Zahara. Pregnancy rumours first surfaced earlier this month when Angelina refused alcohol at the Critics' Choice Awards and was said to be planning her work schedule around having another baby.
Roy Scheider
Roy Scheider, who died on February 10 aged 75, was a versatile and appealing actor who appeared in more than 70 films, including Steven Spielberg's Jaws and William Friedkin's French Connection. Despite his theatrical background, Scheider was best known for playing a string of tough-guys in film thrillers. His weathered face, doe eyes and broken nose gave him a vulnerable air which he often exploited playing down-to-earth everymen attempting to make the best of difficult situations. .
Glow-in-the-dark undies light up life
LINGERIE is set to lighten up, thanks to a North Coast mum. Jan Hawley of Oxley Island has juggled family, full-time work and countless hours working through the night to develop her glow-in-the-dark lingerie range, Intimoglow. "It's sensual and fun," Mrs Hawley said of her collection. Her range of bras, camisoles, knickers and suspenders went on sale in December - it has been years in the making. She was inspired when she spotted the glamorous glowing lace at an Italian mill when she was working as a fabric importer. A growing family put the idea on the backburner before she hunted down another Italian company to produce the lace for her. She currently sells on-line and said business had really picked up in the lead-in to Valentine's Day.
Rade Prica provides shot in the arm to bring relief for Sunderland
On a fine night for unheralded heroes at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland clambered out of the relegation zone courtesy of two players still to establish themselves as household names anywhere other than their own homes. Daryl Murphy and Rade Prica slip from the memory more readily than they slip off the tongue, but the goals they plundered could hardly have been more vital. Three delicious points not only lifted Roy Keane’s team away from immediate peril and into fourteenth place, they left Birmingham City spluttering in their wake. On this evidence, the task facing Alex McLeish at St Andrew’s is anything but straightforward. City, who have not won any of their past six matches in all competitions, were devoid of confidence and inspiration. Keane has struggled to attract established players to his club — Robbie Savage, Matt Taylor and Stephen Hunt have all been targeted and failed to appear — but on this occasion the lesser figures proved inspirational.
