Neal's blog
This year's Super Bowl featured the classy and successful Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy. Society appears to be making progress. However, it is clear other barriers still exist in sports and society in general. This great country offers freedoms and protections to minorities, ignoramuses and bigots alike. However, the people also have the power to hold you responsible for hateful actions. For those who spew hatred and discontent, please understand you will be judged by the content of your character. I still have a dream. Do you? Thank you for taking the time to read this entry. Please feel free to voice your opinion by commenting. K.J. gets overlooked, but shouldn’t
So I offered my services for a few hours today, since I'm supposed to be off. Ink-stained wretch to record-store nerd. Love it. I'll be keeping up with the blog on my laptop while I fulfill what once seemed a dream job for me — working in a record store (I didn't understand you weren't going to get rich working in such a store. Or anything close to rich). For an afternoon, I can spin tunes and sell some CDs, provided folks stop in between noon and 3:30, when my man got some relief coming in. And since Don's a big baseball fan and all, he's even offering a 20-percent spring-training/Braves-MIB discount on used CDs for one week starting today. Just mention the code DOB to the person behind the register. No kidding. See ya at the record store.
Women turn on ‘traitor’ Oprah Winfrey for backing Barack Obama
For decades the Clintons and Bush's have had their opportunity to "turn things around", things continued to spiral. Iâm a Republican man but I see Barack Obama as a NEW CHOICE, he has a vision of America I would wish to live in and leave to my children. It's not about him being black or her being a woman. It is about CHANGE. The results on Tues show he can win against a white male conservative. Independent, liberal conservatives, MEN like me WILL VOTE FOR HIM. NOT HER. To win the presidency you must have the support of men as a whole, We will have McCain as president if Hillary is the choice. .
Britney Spears and Adnan: ‘Classiest Couple ‘08’
Britney Spears and her paparazzi man-candy Adnan Ghalib have been embarking on daily shopping sprees over the past week. One stop was the Betsey Johnson store in Sherman Oaks where Britney apparently came out of a dressing room buck-ass naked, according to Life & Style: "I was blown away. Britney's private parts were right in front of me!" a store employee tells Life & Style. "I grabbed a dress to cover her and she screamed, 'Get away from me! Don't you f------ come near me!' says the employee. "Then she disappeared in the dressing room with Adnan for 45 minutes. They were making weird noises. It was disgusting." When Britney and Adnan finally came out, what followed is probably the most accurate description of how I imagine Britney talking: "I couldn't understand a word she was saying.
Interviewing a 'real' vampire
Even Savannah's "undead" and their friends like to paint the town red every now and then. The moon looks like a blood-red orange cut in half as dread passes over me. The sensation is momentary, but justifiable. I am, after all, standing at the threshold of a vampire sanctuary. And not just any vampire sanctuary. This one is occupied by the director of Black Oaks Savannah, a local organization that serves the city's vampires, witches, druids and pagans. When Black Oaks sent a notice to the Savannah Morning News announcing an early August meet-and-greet social to be held at Elysium, a downtown wine bar, I was intrigued. What do vampires talk about at a wine bar, I wondered. So I made contact and asked for an interview.
Threading wins over clients at downtown Tempe salon
It may not be the only salon in downtown Tempe that relieves women of stray brows and smoothes upper lips, but the technique used at Jada Beauty distinguishes them from the crowd. Threading, an ancient method of hair removal that uses the precise twisting of a cotton thread to remove hair, is the process used at Jada, which opened last month at 350 S. Mill Ave., B201, at Hayden Square. Casa Grande native Alexis Smith owns the salon with her fiance Alex Nguyen and Nguyen's mother Oanh Phan, who founded the business and has practiced the Eastern technique for more than 20 years. .
