Saccharine Making Us Fat? Aw, Rats!
There are a number of other flaws as well — enough to prevent drawing real conclusions from the results. What's more, these results contrast with other studies showing that rats do compensate for calories pretty well when there is no perceptible taste difference. I actually did one such study years ago as a lowly graduate student. I was all excited about being able to use aspartame (Nutrasweet) before it was released to consumers. We used normal-weight rats and rats that were fattened up with high-calorie, fatty, sugary food, to mimic how many people become overweight. Then we placed them on liquid diets — sweetened with sugar and sweetened with aspartame. The aspartame liquids contained either 20 percent or 40 percent fewer calories. When the rats got the liquid with 20 percent fewer calories, they just drank more of it and maintained their weight — whether they were overweight rats or normal weight rats.
Study Finds Smoking Causes Acne
Before you light up your next cigarette, a new study shows nicotine may have yet another hidden danger, especially for women. Local 12 Medical Reporter Liz Bonis explains in today's Health Alert. Not that you need another reason to quit, but this study found that smoking has been linked to serious problems with your skin. We stopped out in Western Hills today at Queen City Physicians to tell you more about this research. It is published in the British Journal of Dermatology. Scientists found women who smoke are four times more likely to develop non-inflammatory acne as non-smokers. This can cause blocked pores, large whiteheads and even small cysts. Women may be more at risk for this than guys who smoke, researchers say, because of fluctuating hormones. The nicotine makes this worse because it constricts blood vessels, and reduces the supply of oxygen to the skin which is needed for new cells. If you are having skin problems, make sure you see your own dermatologist.

PREVIEW: SUNDERLAND v LATICS
Both Latics and Sunderland are both tied on 23 points in the Barclays Premier League which makes this a "six pointer". It is only a month since both clubs met at the Stadium of Light in the E.ON sponsored F.A. Cup, and Latics ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. However, with both sides having changed almost half their starting line-ups as the league took a break, it's bound to be very different this time especially as both clubs making transfers during the January window. Manager Roy Keane has boosted his defence with the signings of Manchester United pair Phil Bardsley and Jonny Evans. The former is a right back who has signed permanently for a fee of £2million whilst the latter is a Northern Ireland international on loan until the of the season. The Black Cats also snapped up French Under 19 defender Jean Yves-Mvoto from Paris Saint Germain, who stands at an intimidating 6ft 4ins.
Johnson wins second Daytona 500 pole as Hendrick team rolls on
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - The Hendrick Motorsports juggernaut just keeps on rolling. Reigning NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson won his second Daytona 500 pole less than 24 hours after new Hendrick teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr. took the checkered flag in the non-points Budweiser Shootout. Michael Waltrip, embarrassed last year at Daytona when his then-new team was caught in the post-qualifying inspection using an illegal fuel additive in his Toyota, also had a great run Sunday, taking the outside pole. Only the top two qualifiers locked in starting positions for next week's 50th running of the Daytona 500. Asked if this makes him the favorite to win the 500, Johnson said, "We have to wait until we get out in the draft and see how these cars work.

The most obvious thing I note is that loutravieso him/herself hasn't managed to make it all the way through either the Constitution or the Declaration. For that matter, he obviously didn't understand the portion of the Declaration quoted in the article. He advocates arrest and imprisonment based on Ideas. Not to mention that little side trip to HELL. His attitude is in clear violation of the Constitution he challenges US to understand and he espouses the exact sort of behaviour which prompted the founding fathers to commission Jefferson to write the declaration in the first place. .
